Mark the Mouse

I will always remember the morning when I woke up, to find my mom on the computer looking quite frazzled.
She said she got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. She went to close the bathroom door but something was in her way. She didn't want to turn on the light and wake up my dad, so she pushed the door harder and harder until finally she forced the door closed. Mom turned on the light and saw a once cute little mouse smashed in the doorway.

My siblings and I decided to immortalize this incident in the form of a song sung to the tune of "O Christmas tree"

O Mark the mouse, O Mark the mouse
Why did you come into the house?
You used to be so cute and gray
Now you're smashed in the doorway
O Mark the mouse, O Mark the mouse
Why did you come into the house?

To even further immortalize this incident, I taught this song to my group of cub scouts. Then I had them sing it in front of their parents for the last pack meeting. They got a good laugh out of everyone. After pack meeting, some of the boys decided to play. One of the boys decided he was a mouse, another one decided he was Mark and one last boy decided he was going to be an exterminator.

Of course, my family never needed an exterminator; we had mom.
